Newly Revised Use and Submission of
Electronic Homework and Lab Exercises
Students will need to take the following steps to ensure proper use and submission of Puntos de partida electronic homework and lab assignments.
Menu:
1. Registration / Reactivation / Login and Use of Electronic Homework and Lab CDs
2. Using the Printer to Print the Results from the Homework and Lab CDs
3. Saving the Results from the Homework and Lab Cds on a Floppy Disk
4. Electronic Submission of Electronic Homework and Lab CDs
Registration / Reactivation
/ Login and Use of Electronic Homework and Lab CDs:

Step 1: Insert CD Rom in computer. The Puntos de partida program should automatically start running. If this does not happen, click on the Windows "Start" button, choose "Run", and then the "Browse" option. Next, click on the "Look in" box and move to the CD-rom directory ("PuntosLM"). Finally, click on "autorun.exe" and hit the "return" button. |

Step 2: Determine
what kind of user you are. If this is the first time you have used the Workbook or Lab CD,
then go to Step 3. If you have registered once and are currently seated at the same
computer you originally registered the CD Workbook or Lab, then got
to Step 8. If you have already registered the CD Workbook or Lab once, but
are using a different computer, then go to Step 10.

Step 3: If you are registering your CD for the first time, then your email address will not show up in the Name box as an option and you will need register your product. To do this, press the "Activate Here" link. |
|
|
Step 4: Next,
choose the "Register A New Product" option from the pop
up window and press "Next". |

Now, enter all the information requested in the "Provide Account Information" window. TO BE SAFE, you should record All the information you have provided (exactly as it appears) on a piece of paper to be kept in a safe place. WARNING!!! - You must be connected to the Internet to poperly register your product. WARNING!!! - Your Registration code is case sensitive. |

Step 6: After
entering your information and pressing "next", wait for
the "Congratulations" message to appear and then copy the
"Confirmation Code" number given to you in the "Confirmation
Code" box. And the,
press "Finish". |
|
|
Step 7: Now proceed to Step 14 . |
|
|
Select
your "Email Address" and enter the "Password"
you chose during the registration process.
(See Step 5). |
|
|
Step 9: Now proceed to Step 14 . |
|
|
If
you have registered your Cd once, but are on a different computer,
then press "Activate here". |
|
|
Step 11: Select
"Activate A Registered Product" and press "Next" |
|
|
Step 12: Enter
your "Account Information" exactly as you entered it when
you originally registered your program. (See Step5). |
|
|
Step 13: Wait
for the "Congratulations" message to appear and then copy
the new "Confirmation Code" number given to you into the
"Confirmation Code" box.
And the, press "Finish". REVISION:
If your confirmation screen remains blank or states that the connection
with the server has been closed or refused in any way, then copy this
message and send it in an email to Prof.
Keeth. After receiving your email, he will reply giving you instructions
on how to use a temporary internet address to complete either your
workbook or lab exercises. Please, note which CD you are working with. |

Select the "Contents" menu. |
|
|
Step 15: Open an exercise. |
|
|
Step 16: Enter your answers and press "return" to check answers. |
|
|
Note: Accents can be found in the upper right hand corner of the Puntos de partida screen. Simply press the letter to insert it. |

Step 17: After completing an exercise, make sure you press "finish" |
|
|
Step 18: After you have pressed "finish", select "report" to see how well you have done on the exercise. |
|
Using the Printer to Print
the Results of the Electronic Homework and Lab CDs:

Step 1: Complete each exercise and press "report". You should see a report similar to this one. |
|
|
Step 2: Simply press "print" and select a printer to send you hard copy to. Be careful to note the name of this printer. |
|
|
Step 3: Finally, close and exit all programs. |
|
Saving the Results from the Homework and Lab Cds on a Floppy Disk
|
Step 1: After completing an exercise, make sure you press "finish". |
|
|
Step 2: Complete each exercise and press "report". |
|
|
Note: Your report should look like this one. |
|
|
Step 3: Press Print Screen. |
|
|
Step 4: Go to Start. |
|
|
Step 5: Select Programs. |
|
|
Step 6: Select Accessories. |
|
|
Step 7: And, then Select "Paint". |
|
|
Step 8: Once you are in the "Paint" Program, simply press "Edit" and then "Paste". |
|
|
Step 9: When your computer gives you the clipboard warning, press "Yes". |
|
|
Step 10: After your saved image appears, press "File" and then "Save". |
|
|
Step 11: Before pressing "save" again,, make sure to choose "Monochrome Bitmap". |
|
|
Note: After pressing "Save", your computer will warn you about a loss of color to your image, disregard this message and press "Yes". |

Again: Make sure to save your document as a Monochrome Bitmap TO THE DEKSTOP. SAVING YOUR FILE AS A MONOCHROME BITMAP FILE WILL REDUCE YOUR FILE SIZE BY 10X.

Step 12: Close the "Paint" program. |
|
|
Step 13: Continue working. Repeat these steps as necessary to save each additional Results Page to the desk top. |
|
|
Step 14: When you are finished working and all your files have been saved to the desktop, open Drive A and transfer your files from the desktop to your floppy disk. |
|
Electronic Submission
of Electronic Homework and Lab CDs:

Step 1: After completing an exercise, make sure you press "finish". |
|
|
Step 2: Complete each exercise and press "report". |
|
|
Note: Your report should look like this one. |

|

Step 5: Select Programs. |
|

Step 12: Close the "Paint" program. |

NOTE: IF YOU ARE ON A PERSONAL COMPUTER AND USE MICROSOFT OUTLOOK, EUDORA, OR ANY OTHER E-MAIL PROGRAM AND KNOW HOW TO ATTACH A FILE TO AN EMAIL, THEN SKIP THE FOLLOWING STEPS AND SEND YOUR ATTACHED FILE AS USUAL.

Step 13: Now, open your "Internet explorer" or "Netscape Browser" |
|
|
Step 14: Navigate to the Mansfield University web page and choose "Current students" |
|
|
Step 15: Find the "Check Webmail" option at the bottom of the page and click it. |
|
|
Step 16: Logon to Webmail |
|
|
Step 17: Choose "Compose email". |
|
|
Step 18: Enter your professor's address, a title, etc. |
|
|
Step 19: Scroll down to the "Attach Document" area of the screen and select "Browse". |
|
|
Step 20: Look for the file you saved earlier on the "Desktop". |
|
|
Step 21: Open this file. |
|
|
Step 22: Now press the "Attach" button. |
|
|
Step 23: After pressing "Attach", make sure that your file is listed as "Attached" in the "Attached Box". |
|
|
Step 24: Then, send your document--waiting long enough to confirm that it has been delivered. |
|
|
Step 25: Finally, close and exit all programs. |
