Guide for the Midterm


Fundamental Skills:

1) What are the rules for dividing a word into syllables? How do you find the naturally accented syllable of a word? Why is this important?

2) Do you remember all of the survival questions and when to use one versus the other?

3) What are all the question words in Spanish (who, what, where, etc.)?

Vocabulary and related:

1) Have you been studying all of the vocabulary (family 66, clothing 103, colors 105, house 133, weekdays 133)?

2) Is your spelling good when it comes to numbers (1-1000+? How well can you solve math problems? What happens to numbers when you use them like adjectives (example, 101 shirts)?

Verbs and Etc.:

1) How many –AR ,-IR, ERverbs do you know? Have you studied them as vocabulary and also in all of their “conjugations”?

2) Have you studied your stem-changing verbs (114, 140)?

3) What are reflexive verbs and how do you conjugate them (144)?

4) How many -go verbs do you need to study (137)?

5) Have you learned all the "tener" idiomatic expressions?

6) Can you create sentences using the "tener +que" and "ir + a" structures?

Other:

1) Are you placing and forming your adjectives correctly?

2) Can you show possession using the Spanish equivalent of an apostrophe “s” and also using an equivalent possessive adjective?

3) How do you use demonstrative adjectives and pronouns?

4) Do you remember what happens to "a" and "de" when they are next to "el"?

5) How do you use the prespositions "antes de", "después de", and "hasta" with infinitive verbs?

6) Can you narrate common daily events using words like "primero", "entonces", "luego", and "finalmente"?

7) If you were asked to generate a simple conversation, how far could you go? Are you able to generate more than a couple of questions? How many?

8) Have you tried to use any of the practice material at the McGraw Hill Site?
