Alphabet

Can you spell and pronounce all of the letters of the Spanish alphabet?

Pronunciation and Accents

What are the rules for dividing a word into syllables?  How do you find the naturally accented syllable of a word?

Greetings

What are the most important simple greetings and questions?  What is the difference between the and the Ud. Forms of greetings?  How does this affect your conversation?

Expression

Are you able to create a simple dialogue that includes vocabulary and expressions from Ante Todo, Chapter 1, and Chapter 2?  What types of practical questions could you create for a student living here at MU?  Would you be able to answer the same type of questions?

Time

Can you tell time? When do you use “son las” as opposed to “a las?  Do you remember how express A.M and P.M in Spanish?

Articles, Adjectives, and Possession

Do you know the difference between a definite and an indefinite article? Can you create plural and singular definite and indefinite articles?  Which words are almost always feminine?  What suffix do the irregular “Greek” nouns usually have?  How does the gender and number of a word affect the placement of adjectives (even possessive adjectives)?  What are possessive adjectives?  Do you know how to expression possession in another way?  Remember (‘s ) does not exist in Spanish?

Cognates

What are cognates and how are they important to you?  Are you able to classify items according to these categories (nación, persona, lugar, casa, concepto, animal, comida, deporte, instrumento)?  Can you think of a couple of common cognates?

Verbs

Are you using and conjugating the verb “ser” and “estar” correctly? Do you know when to use one versus the other?  How do you use the “gustar” verb in expressions and questions?  What should you know about the indirect object pronouns “le” and “les”?  Which of the AR,ER, IR verbs can be used in “gustar” expressions like “me gusta hablar español con mis amigos”?  Are you able to recognize the subject (or subject pronoun) in sentences and questions?  Can you conjugate all of the AR, ER, IR verbs according to a mixed bag of subjects? Do you remember how to combine verbs together like “necesito trabajar” or “desean bailar”?  Did you remember NOT to conjugate the second verb in this compound verb structure?  When do we need to use the double “no” structure in responding to questions? What does the verb “hay” mean?

Numbers

How well can you solve math problems?  Is your spelling good when it comes to numbers 1-199?  What happens in cases where numbers used as adjectives?

Question Words

Can you remember all of the question words and also use them to answer or generate questions?
