Guide for Midterm


1.     Remember the Midterm is an accumulative exam that covers Chapters 4-6.

2.     Have you taken advantage of the ACE practice exams?

3.     Can you correctly use all the survival questions?

4.     Have you studied all vocabulary for Chapters 4-6 (family members, activities, numbers, descriptions, classroom objects, colors, at the bank)? 

5.     Are you able to conjugate all the verbs we’ve studied so far in the present tense (bailar, bromear, conocer, conseguir, costar, creer, dar, depositar, empezar, encontrar, entender, entrar, enviar, estar, hacer, ir, llamar, llegar, llevar, mandar, nadar, patinar, pedir, pensar, perder, planear, poder, preferir, querer, recordar, saber, sacar, salir, servir, tocar, usar, vender, visitar, volver)?

6.     How many stem changing verbs have we studied (p. 109, 132)?  Can you conjugate each of them correctly?

7.     Do you remember how to create and use compound verbs?

8.     When do you use “estar” versus “ser”?  And, what are their conjugations?

9.     What is the progressive tense (p. 105) and what are its irregular forms?

10. What are the direct object pronouns and when do we use them (p. 135)?

11. How do you use demonstrative adjectives?

12. What is the difference between comparative and superlative adjectives, adverbs and nouns?  When do you use “tan” versus “tanto”?  What happens to “bueno” in a comparison sentence?

13. What should you remember about pronouns as objects of prepositions (p. 114)?

14. How many affirmative and negative expressions are there (p. 138)?  What do we should we remember about the negative expressions in regards to verb placement?

15.  Can you use the “hace…que” expression?
